अमरूद में कैल्शियम, फासफोरस, ग्लूकोज एवं लौह तत्व भी भरपूर मात्रा में पाया जाता है। यह पित्तनाशक भी होता है। अमरूद को प्रात: नाश्ते के बाद या दोपहर में भोजन के एक घंटे बाद लेने से पेट की कब्ज दूर हो जाती है। अमरूद रक्त को शुद्ध करके फोड़े और फुंसियों से भी बचाता है। पाचन शक्ति के लिए यह उत्तम औषधि है।
हृदय, गले के रोग, खांसी, बवासीर आदि रोगों के लिए भी अमरूद लाभप्रद है। सूर्योदय से पहले कच्चे अमरूद को घिस कर माथे पर लेप लगाने से सिरदर्द दूर हो जाता है। अमरूद खाने से मांस पेशियों को भी मजबूती मिलती है और शरीर में ताजगी भी रहती है। उन्होंने कहा कि शाकाहारी भोजन प्रोटीन विटामिन, मिनरल, कैलोरी, कार्बोहाइड्रेट, आयरन से पौष्टिक तत्वों का खजाना है। शाकाहार शोध छात्रा अंजुम राईन ने कहा कि नियमित शाकाहार से हृदय रोग, बवासीर, गठिया, पथरी, अल्सर जैसे रोगों में लाभ मिलता है।
